Damian Lillard

In July 2018, Blazers beat reporter Casey Holdahl noticed that Damian Lillard had recently added a tattoo of the Raiders logo to his right arm.

This portrait of Lillard is taken from the article "Trail Blazers tattoos reveal players' values" published by the Oregonian in 2013. Lillard is quoted about tattoos at length in the article:

"When I first started getting them, everybody was getting them, so it was cool," Damian Lillard said. "I'm just happy that they all have some type of meaning to me. It's just stuff that I take interest in, stuff that I value: My mom, my sister, basketball ... my friends, my brother, scripture. Everything is something that I felt was worthy of being on my body."

Lillard's chestpiece, first revealed in a 2013 instagram post, references the logo for his hometown, the city of Oakland:

Lillard has Psalm 37 tattooed on his left arm. In a 2012 profile by Sam Amick in Sports Illustrated, Lillard revealed he got the tattoo after his freshman year at Weber State. He went on to explain its significance:

"It's about not letting anything sway you from what you believe; keep your faith strong," Lillard said. "It kind of stuck with me because I felt like in my career, I knew I wanted to be an NBA player, but there are people who would say, 'Man, you go to Weber State. You're too small.' You'd have a lot of people trying to make me believe that I wouldn't be able to do it, so that's what kind of pushed me."
